This painting was commissioned by the well-known South African aurthor Riana Scheepers, which resides in Wilderness.
The view over Wilderness is the same as the angle she has from her house but set some time before settling in that area as if it were a long time ago.
She has a particular interest and love for chameleons and has a sanctuary for them at her home. This particular kind is indigenous to the area called the Knysna Dwarf Chameleon.
The underlying elements of Magical Realism in this painting echoes the feeling of magic in her novels, where nature and indigenous tribes are acknowledged as part of her narrative, and pays tribute to times past.
She has used this image for her business cards and added the original painting to her private art collection.
